XLS 602
Architectural & Engineering Specifications
Crown® XLS 602
The power amplifier shall meet or exceed the following performance
criteria: Sensitivity for full rated power at 4 ohms: 1.25 V. Rated output
with both channels driven with 0.5% THD (at 1 kHz) in Dual mode: 600
The power amplifier shall be a solid-state two-channel model.
watts per channel into 4 ohms and 380 watts per channel into 8 ohms.
Rated output with 0.5% THD (at 1 kHz) in Bridge-Mono mode: 1,200
watts into 8 ohms. Frequency Response at 1 watt, 22 Hz to 20 kHz: +0 dB,
–1 dB. Signal to Noise Ratio below rated power (20 Hz to 20 kHz, inputs
terminated): greater than 100 dB A-weighted. Total Harmonic Distortion
at full rated power, 1 kHz: less than 0.5%. Intermodulation Distortion (60
Hz and 7 kHz at 4:1, from full rated output to –40 dB: less than 0.3%.
Damping Factor (8 ohms): greater than 200 from 10 to 400 Hz. Crosstalk
(below rated power, –75 dB at 1 kHz, –50 dB at 20 kHz. Input Impedance
(nominal): 20 kilohms balanced, 10 kilohms unbalanced. AC Line Voltages
and Frequencies Available ( 10%): 120 VAC 60Hz, 100 VAC 50/60 Hz, 220
VAC 50 Hz, 230-240 VAC 50 Hz.
The amplifier shall provide extensive protection and diagnostic capabili-
ties, including output current limiting, DC protection, circuit breaker, and
thermal protection.
The front-panel controls shall be two black detented level controls (one for
each channel) and a power switch. The rear-panel controls shall be a circuit
breaker reset switch and a Dual/Bridge-Mono mode switch.
Front-mounted indicators shall be the following: Signal Presence Indica-
tors: Two green LEDs, one for each channel, illuminate when the channel’s
input signal exceeds –40 dBu. Clip Indicators: Two red LEDs, one for each
channel, illuminate when the channel’s output is being overdriven. Power
Indicator: Blue LED indicates amplifier has been turned on and AC
power is available. Fault Indicator: Two red LEDs illuminate when amplifier
is in protect mode. Also illuminates briefly during normal power-up when
amplifier is first switched on.
The amplifier chassis shall be constructed of steel with a durable black
finish and shall be designed for flow-through ventilation from the front
panel to the back panel. Internal heat sinks with forced-air cooling shall
provide rapid, uniform heat dissipation.
The recommended load impedance shall be 4 to 8 ohms per channel in
Stereo, and 8 ohms in Bridge Mono.
The rear-mounted output connectors shall be two 4-pole Speakon® con-
nectors (one per channel) and a pair of binding posts per channel. Rear-
mounted input connectors shall be 3-pin balanced XLR connectors.
The dimensions of the amplifier shall allow for 19 inch (48.3 cm) EIA
standard (RS-310-B) rack mounting. The amplifier shall be 3.5 inches (8.9
cm) tall, and 15.2 inches (38.6 cm) deep.
The amplifier shall weigh 29.0 pounds (13.2 kg).
The amplifier shall be designated the Crown XLS 602.
